I am sincerely asking myself this question… if you’re reading, you’re just along for the ride.
Since I was little I have dreamed of creating a brand around the things that I love – paper products, candles, crystals and home decor. I know I know, it’s a revolutionary thought! No other basic white girl has ever wanted to do the same.
I fell in love with growing businesses as soon as I got out of college. But instead of growing businesses based on the things I love, I ended up in the hunting and outdoor industry. It’s a little different than creating planners, hand-poured candles and stationary, but I absolutely love it. I was handed some pretty amazing opportunities thanks to my father, and I don’t regret a minute of the career that I’ve built. I love the ins and outs of all of our businesses, and they have allowed me and my family to live an incredible life.
Throughout the years, we have bought and sold real estate, renovated homes, opened Airbnbs and long-term rentals. I have also thrown my fair share of parties – for work, family and friends.
What I’ve learned about myself is that I love hosting, and I love making a house into a home.
I decided that I need a creative outlet for myself that has nothing to do with my work at work. I believe that writing and creating totally separate from your day job allows you to expand your mind and find more satisfaction in everyday life.
As much as I am eager to write and create around my “side-hustles”, I’ve also learned a lot over the years working at my main hustle. I run multiple companies and e-commerce brands, I have multiple business partners, 30+ employees, commercial real estate, two dogs, one cat, one husband and one baby. I started with one employee and a big empty building. That same building is now full of life, and I fell in love with that one employee and had a beautiful daughter with him.
Through building our businesses and our family, I have learned a lot of things the hard way, and have a desire to help others who are looking to build their career into something that brings them joy and balances well with their family life.
I don’t know everything about anything. I am learning and growing everyday. I believe that the best way to keep learning is to keep teaching. So my goal with starting this blog is to start sharing what I’ve learned, in hopes that it will open up new opportunities to learn even more.
Thank you for reading 🙂
